DESCRIPTION:
Monchique Guest House is a luxurious Bed & Breakfast country retreat that offers affordable holiday or business accommodation in Muldersdrift - the best in the west of Gauteng.
We pride ourselves on top-class amenities and services delivered with a special personal touch. Our accent is on luxury, hospitality and friendliness - which you will experience from the moment you arrive until you depart. At Monchique, you can choose to forget the bustle, buzz, and bright lights so nearby, and focus on pure, unadulterated relaxation and indulgence.
Monchique Guest House is minutes from the city, yet miles away in terms of the serene tranquillity of our rural surroundings. You’ll find us in Muldersdrift - nestling on the edge of the Cradle of Humankind, a world heritage site. We are readily accessible by well-established roads, only about 40 minutes from Sandton and Pretoria. Lanseria International Airport is also nearby while the popular Fourways shopping mall and Monte Casino resort are less than 20 minutes away.
ACCOMMODATION
Choose from our seven luxurious, individually decorated, en suite double bedrooms and a family suite, all located in the thatched main homestead, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. Each room is equipped with DSTV, hairdryers, air-conditioning, safety-deposit boxes as well as tea and coffee stations. Three rooms have open fireplaces and under-carpet heating to ward off the Gauteng winter chill. And after a long and tiring day, there is little to beat relaxing in your large sumptuous oval bath.
Each room has its own private balcony from where you can watch the enormous variety of birds that are attracted to our gardens - but don’t forget to watch the ground too; you may be lucky to spot a shy jackal, hedgehog, hare or meerkat.
Many of our guests choose to overnight at Monchique instead of travelling long distances after attending a wedding at one of the many wedding venues in the areas. Not surprisingly, Monchique is also a popular “first night” venue for brides and grooms.
DINING
Start your day with a full English breakfast served in our private dining room. Light lunches are also available but prior arrangements must be made for dinners. Alternatively, after a cocktail on your private balcony watching one of our spectacular sunsets, head for one of the many excellent restaurants in the vicinity. One of the most popular is the Carnivore, which specialises in charcoal grilled meats such as chicken, beef, ostrich and kudu, and the Casalinga with its Italian cuisine.
CONFERENCES & MEETING
Monchique is an ideal venue for that much-needed weekend getaway to unwind and recharge your batteries. It’s also perfect for business meetings, indabas or an executive bosberaad. We can organise whiteboards, data projectors and screen.
ADDITIONAL FACILITIES
On a warm day, our pool is invitingly refreshing, or join fellow guests for a drink at our cosy residents’ bar with its open fireplace and superb patio. Alternatively, if you prefer to relax in quieter surroundings, you can do so in one of the two lounges or catch up on some reading or browse the Internet in the Hickocks Library.
ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
Surrounded by the Crocodile Ramble and bordering on the Magalies Meander, Monchique offers access to a host of activities in close proximity. Visit Arts and Crafts stalls, go buggy or quad bike racing. Visit the splendor of the Sterkfontein Caves, spend a lazy day out in the fresh air trout fishing (ask us to pack a picnic basket for you), or take a drive to Hartesbeespoort Dam and indulge in a paragliding trip over the still waters or float away on a hot air balloon ride. A visit to the Elephant Sanctuary is an absolute must and a visit to one of the local game reserves will give you “The true feeling of Africa”. Take your picnic basket and spend the day at the Botanical Gardens and view the protected Black Eagles in full flight. Visit the local glass factory shops and candle makers (they both offer a wonderful selection of gifts and mementos).
If shopping is your passion there are a number of upmarket, modern shopping centers in close proximity. If you would like to go out for a meal with a difference, we have a number of excellent restaurants in the area that we can recommend, but we still say our cuisine is of the best on offer in the area.
So much to do, so little time to do it in! The answer is to extend your stay and let us pamper you for as long as it takes for you to get your fill of all the activities on offer. |
