A warm welcome awaits visitors who wish to experience the glamour of yesteryear, but who also do not want to compromise on modern amenities.
The main residence
The main residence was originally built in 1890. It has a Victorian style and is one of a few houses from this period still in existence. The building has undergone a number of restorations, but the character of the house has not changed. Soaring moulded ceilings, period wooden doors and windows, stained glass and antique furniture give the main residence’s interior a warm glow.
Guest accommodation
We offer four spacious double rooms and two single rooms all of which have en-suite facilities. The double rooms have showers and the single rooms have baths. All rooms are air-conditioned and have outside doors to give the guest as much comfort and privacy as possible. The stoep extending across the length of the quest house provides a place where guests can relax while enjoying the beautiful view it provides of the city and surrounding hills.

Modern amenities
Although the original Victorian house, with its quaint steeple, wrap-around veranda, moulded ceilings, stained glass work and wooden floors, doors and windows has been perfectly preserved, the visitor will find luxury rooms and en suite bathrooms, total connectivity (the entire guest house is a Wi-Fi hotspot), adequate desk space in the rooms and the entire range of business support.
Nearby attractions
Walking distance to Loftus Versfeld and the Union Buildings and very close to Pretoria Botanical Gardens, CSIR, Embassies, Unisa, University of Pretoria, Hospitals, Art Gallery, Museums, Centurion cricket grounds and the N1 Freeway.

Situated in jacaranda-lined Pine Street in Arcadia, one of Pretoria’s oldest suburbs, Melvin Residence Guest House is within walking distance of the Union Buildings and the famous embassy row of the capital city.
The fact that the guest house is just ten minutes’ drive away from the commercial hub of the city, Loftus Versfeld rugby and football stadium, the University of Pretoria and specialist hospitals in the area, does not detract from the air of tranquillity that surrounds Melvin Residence. Many restaurants and coffee shops in the area offer the visitor a selection of dining experiences.
