DESCRIPTION:
The original section of this comfortable, charming home was built in 1906. The African thatch provides a cool haven in summer and in winter the under floor heating in the main entertainment areas and the open fireplace make it cozy and warm.
It is surrounded by magnificent trees some 100 years old. The garden has numerous areas where guests can relax and its unique beauty remain even during winter season. The patio surrounding the pool is a great entertainment area where even smaller children can play in the water, off course under supervision.
If interested you could follow our babbling stream through eighty acres of natural fauna and flora and get a real feel of the bush, taking a walk, watching the birds and the bees enjoying the flowers as well!
Accommodation
Accommodation options include a choice of either one of the four guest rooms all with own en-suite bathroom, all built with three windows over looking the gardens. These are two very spacious rooms: own entrance, one above the other on the east side of the house, called 'Kosmoskamer' and 'Bokamer' with the other two smaller, cozy rooms on the north side, also one above the other - Tuin and Voëltjiekamer.
We supply a coffee / tea tray in each room. All the beds have electric blankets in winter.
The self catering option is our newly built log unit on stilts with two separate units next to each other, high up in the tree tops sleeping two guests each. The other, 'La Cabernon' is our popular garden self catering cabin, stone under thatch, sleeping up to four guests.
Facilities
We share our home with our guests. We have a communal TV room where Mara has a marvelous collection of books, magazines and games. Some of the magazines are from way back ... the 1950's!
Other facilities include laundry on request, satellite television in the Guest House rooms. Enough secure parking is available. Picnic baskets or light lunches can be arranged. We are also pet friendly.
Self catering is another option where you can enjoy your own braai using our bush kitchen next to the pool deck. Bring your own briquettes / wood for a braai. A stove and large fridge is available there and we supply you with other utensils.
Breakfast
A big breakfast is included in the room rate and served at your leisure on the verandah overlooking the beautiful garden. The menu consists of traditional and health-conscious breakfasts with Mara's wonderful homemade jams and chutneys not to mention the farm butter!
We pride ourselves on the service we offer and make sure that guests will feel absolutely at home. Children of all ages are welcome and family packages will automatically be offered. |
