Bankenveld House Bed & Breakfast Krugersdorp
Bankenveld House is situated amongst the rocky outcrops of Krugersdorp, where Tienie and Karen Stander take pleasure in sharing their hospitality and making your stay comfortable and memorable.
This rustic thatched family home has panoramic views of the Cradle of Humankind and guests can enjoy the bird life in our indigenous garden. The evening calls of the Black Backed Jackal are sure to delight visitors who might even be lucky to view the resident Black Eagle or Verreaux Eagle pair or the Vervet Monkeys irking the dachshunds from the tree tops.
Accommodation
We are committed to provide comfortable, luxurious and spotless rooms with an extra emphasis on privacy. Each room is individually decorated to bring about a beautiful, luxurious home-away-from-home feel. Guests can enjoy tea, coffee, drinks and fruit from their rooms as well as books, magazines, working and leisure areas equipped with wireless internet, satellite TV and DVD machines. National Geographic DVDs are available on request.
All rooms are furnished with adequate and safe wall plugs, international adaptors, a hair dryer and a safe. We offer clean linen every 2nd day as well as a daily cleaning service. Rooms have separate entrances and private and safe parking is provided.
The unique Bankenveld biosphere is under constant threat due to mining, farming and development. Only a small area in the Gauteng Highveld remains untouched and we have made it our mission to maintain and protect it. A large part of our effort towards sustainability is through the approach of permaculture, by designing our terrain to mimic natural ecologies.
The renovations to the house partly include foreign timbers found in and around the property and grey water is used to sustain newly created wetlands in the garden. While we recycle where we can (recycled paper is used for toilet paper and stationary) a worm farm ensures that the waste we generate is safely converted into compost.

As your hosts we gladly advise on local eat outs and places of interest. Allow us to arrange a day spa, prepare a braai for you in our boma or organise transport for connecting flights. Here you can expect a peaceful stay, while profiting from the close proximity of Johannesburg.
The neighbouring farm Laurentia, with its open grass veld and dense riverine vegetation provides vast varieties of fauna and flora and presents an excellent setting for mountain biking, walking and jogging. Bankenveld House is the perfect place to relax after a busy day.
